Anoushka Redda / Eng Su / Palle

Another alumni talk. I feel they are getting slightly less useful.

They all did the placement thing... Johnson Banks, Partners, Enterprise, NB, The Chase, Pentagram, IDEO  etc etc etc.

Again little explanation of how they went about acquiring those placements or jobs, what they think made them stand out, did they do anything out of the ordinary????

However something different was introduced to me as a possibility for the future. Anoushka, after doing the whole placement thing decided that being a designer wasn't really for her. Her title now is 'Accounts Director' at NB and despite the boring title this did appeal to me. Her role involves meeting with clients, pitching and organising all the projects that the studio is currently working; making sure that they are all progressing, running on time and that the clients gets what they want when they want it.
There has been points during my degree when I thought that being a 'Graphic Designer' may not be 100% right for me. This angle showed another way of being involved in a studio, a studio environment and creative work but with minimal input in the design aspect.

Also Eng talking about how her ventures abroad had opened her mind up and changed her style. The dramatic change in environment that travelling allows you to have, must open you up to new things in all aspects of life, including design culture.

As these alumni talks build up, the more I feel that I would be far more suited to working for a company rather than freelancing. The element of security of knowing that you have a place to go every morning would  come as great comfort to me.
